About SpreadsheetUSA

A spreadsheet should solve your problem — not become it. We build Excel templates made for US workflows, so you can spend your time on the work instead of on formulas.

Why SpreadsheetUSA exists

Most free Excel templates online are either generic or built for another market: dates in DD/MM/YYYY, amounts in foreign currency, VAT instead of sales tax, and columns that do not match anything a US business actually needs.

So you end up rebuilding the thing for half an afternoon anyway.

SpreadsheetUSA does the opposite: Every template is built from the start for US workflows — amounts in USD, the MM/DD/YYYY date format, and the concepts you actually deal with here, like sales tax, 1099 contractors, and W-2 employees. Download, open, and get to work. No sign-up required.

How we work

US-ready from the first cell

Dates in MM/DD/YYYY, amounts in USD, sales tax fields, and room for the details US filings need. Accounting templates keep 1099 and W-2 workflows in mind; payroll templates account for hourly and salaried pay.

Tested before it goes live

Every file is opened and reviewed before we publish it: do the formulas work, do the totals add up, does it look right when printed? We would rather have fewer templates that work than a hundred half-finished ones.

Free, with no asterisk

No fine print. The file you download is the whole file — with every tab, formula, and function. Ads on the site pay the bill, not your contact details.

Users decide what comes next

When several people ask for the same kind of template, it moves to the top of the list. The best ideas come from people who are facing a real, specific problem.

Builds & checks the templates

Michael is a US Certified Public Accountant who builds each Excel template and verifies the formulas and tax assumptions. He makes sure every sales tax field, total, and calculation holds up before a file goes live.

Who uses the templates?

Our templates are downloaded by everyone from sole proprietors to nonprofits and departments inside larger companies. Typically:

  • Freelancers and the self-employed — invoices, mileage logs, sales tax overviews, and budgets, without having to buy accounting software on day one
  • Small businesses — shift schedules, inventory tracking, cash flow budgets, and payroll hours, ready to share with your accountant
  • Nonprofits and volunteers — member lists, dues tracking, event budgets, and expense overviews
  • Individuals — personal budgets, savings goals, mortgage overviews, and planning for everything from a wedding to a move

What they all have in common: they would rather not spend an evening setting up a spreadsheet. We have already done that for them.

Missing a template?

Tell us what you need, or report a bug in a file. Specific requests from users are the first thing we look at when we plan new templates.
